A loggerhead sea turtle has been rescued after becoming stranded on El Duque Beach in southern Tenerife.
The rescue operation took place on Thursday morning, with firefighters from Tenerife Fire and Rescue, Adeje Volunteer Fire Brigade, and Adeje Local Police responding after the animal was spotted on the shoreline.
Taken to Wildlife Recovery Centre
Following the rescue, the turtle was transported to the La Tahonilla Wildlife Recovery Centre, where specialists will assess its condition and provide any treatment needed before it is released back into the Atlantic Ocean.
Loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) are regularly seen in Canary Islands waters, and rescued animals are typically cared for at the centre until they are fit to return to their natural habitat.
