Living in the Canary Islands means having a volcano-related conversation every now and again. Usually, it involves someone pointing at a mountain and saying, “That used to be a volcano.” Quite often, they’re right.
On 22 and 23 September at 7:00 p.m., Güímar’s House of Culture will host two informative sessions led by specialists from the Canary Islands Volcanological Institute (INVOLCAN).
The talks will explore the volcanic phenomenon and how volcanic risks are managed across the Canary Islands, offering residents the chance to learn more about the science behind the islands’ geological history and ongoing volcanic activity.
It’s a useful opportunity to hear directly from professionals working in the field, ask questions and gain a better understanding of the natural forces that helped shape the Canaries.
The sessions are being organised with the collaboration of Güímar Town Hall and the Citizen Participation Council.
