The eight Canary Islands came together in a rather spectacular way on Saturday night, although thankfully nobody had started moving the islands around.
A drone show at the 9th Gran Fiesta de los Vinos de Tenerife created the illusion of the eight islands joining together to form the silhouette of Tenerife above Playa de El Socorro in Los Realejos.
Footage shared by Turismo de Los Realejos shows hundreds of drones moving through a series of illuminated formations before eventually creating the shape of Tenerife.
It was quite a sight for the crowds gathered along the coast.
Wine, food and a lot of drones
The drone display was part of an evening combining Tenerife wine, gastronomy and live music, with Playa de El Socorro packed with activities celebrating local produce.
This year’s festival brought together 79 wines from 25 wineries, alongside 37 dishes from eight local restaurants.
Gran Canaria was the guest island, represented by nine wineries offering 15 different wines.
Tenerife itself was represented by 16 wineries and 64 wines, covering several of the island’s wine regions and denominations, including Valle de La Orotava, Islas Canarias, Abona and Tacoronte-Acentejo.
Something for everyone
The food offering included plenty of choice, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available alongside the more traditional dishes.
Music kept things moving well into the night, with Vamos y la liamos, Sin cobertura and Stereogroove performing from around 6:00pm and continuing into the early hours.
But it was probably the drones that stole the show.
