Residents in Arona will soon be able to stretch their spending further thanks to the return of Bono Comercio Arona 2026, a scheme designed to support local businesses while helping shoppers save money.
Under the initiative, residents will be able to purchase €20 shopping vouchers for just €10, with the remaining amount covered through public funding.
Nearly €1 Million Expected for the Local Economy
The programme, managed through the municipality’s Department of Economic Promotion and Employment, will invest €461,400 in public funds to subsidise purchases made at participating businesses across the municipality.
According to the council, the initiative is expected to generate close to €1 million in economic activity, providing a significant boost to local commerce.
Councillor for Economic Promotion and Employment, Melania Santos, said the scheme has already proven to be an effective tool for encouraging spending while ensuring public investment directly benefits local businesses and residents.
Support for Small Businesses
The campaign is aimed at self-employed workers, micro-businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises based in Arona that meet the programme requirements.
To help distribute the funding fairly, participating businesses will initially be able to redeem up to €6,000 worth of vouchers.
The council has highlighted the important role that local businesses play within the community, describing them as key generators of employment, economic activity and social cohesion across the municipality’s neighbourhoods.
Helping Residents Save While Supporting Local Shops
The initiative is designed to benefit both consumers and businesses.
Residents receive an immediate discount on their purchases, while participating shops gain increased customer spending and additional footfall.
Local authorities believe the scheme will continue to strengthen the municipality’s commercial sector and create new opportunities for growth across Arona.
Registration dates for both businesses and consumers are expected to be announced shortly, with full details becoming available through the official campaign website once applications open.
