New Los Abrigos restaurant serving fresh fish right by the sea

If you’re partial to fresh fish, good seafood and a table close enough to the water to hear the waves, there’s a new restaurant in Los Abrigos worth checking out.

Restaurante Perlas del Mar has recently reopened following renovation, and it’s already getting plenty of attention. In fact, food reviewers @guachinchesmodernos visited less than a week after it opened and liked it enough to return for a second visit.

The main attraction is fresh fish, sold by weight, with the kitchen keeping things fairly traditional.

During their visit, they ordered a grouper weighing more than three kilos, cooked with garlic and parsley. The reviewers were impressed by the amount of meat on the fish, as well as the flavour.

But there’s more to the menu than just the catch of the day.

They started with prawns, followed by prawns cooked with garlic, which were apparently good enough to order a second helping. That’s usually a decent recommendation.

One dish that particularly caught their attention was the fish escaldón, a traditional Canarian favourite made with gofio and fish. They praised the flavour and the generous pieces of fish, describing it as one of the tastiest fish escaldones they’ve tried in the Canary Islands.

The seafood spaghetti also went down very well. The sauce was a particular highlight, with the reviewers saying that everyone around the table was impressed.

Overall, they were full of praise for the food, describing everything as very tasty.

Where to find Perlas del Mar

The restaurant is at Calle La Marina 1, in Los Abrigos. One of its attractions is a lovely terrace where you can eat practically beside the sea.

It’s open every day from 1pm until 10pm, serving both lunch and dinner.

With fresh fish, traditional seafood dishes and a seafront setting, Perlas del Mar looks like a welcome addition to the Los Abrigos restaurant scene.
