Things to do in Santa Cruz this weekend: Halloween, concerts, comics and more

Santa Cruz has a packed programme for the final weekend of October, with more than 100 activities taking place across the city. There’s everything from Halloween events and horror films to live music, theatre, comic book workshops and traditional crafts.

The programme runs from Thursday 29 October to Sunday 1 November, with plenty for families as well as those looking for something to do in the evening.

One thing to bear in mind is that some events may be changed or cancelled following the national mourning declared after the railway accident in Toledo. It’s worth checking with organisers before setting off, particularly for Halloween activities.

Halloween and the Santa Cruz Comic Book Fair

Two of the main attractions this weekend are the Santa Cruz Comic Book Fair and the Halloween programme.

The Comic Book Fair takes over Plaza del Príncipe and the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts, with author appearances, book presentations, signing sessions, drawing workshops and role-playing games.

Saturday is particularly busy, with dance performances, children’s activities, comic presentations and meetings with illustrators. Sunday’s programme includes an Idols competition, a talk about Star Wars and a cosplay catwalk.

There are also two family workshops at the Central Municipal Library on Friday afternoon. Monsters and Fantasy Creatures, led by Carlos Miranda, focuses on drawing and creating characters. A second session, When Death Came to Our House, with Laura Escuela, uses stories and shared activities to explore grief.

Horror films, live music and theatre

If Halloween is more your thing, Espacio Price is showing a series of horror films throughout the weekend. The programme includes Night of the Living Dead, Hellraiser, Fright Night and Army of Darkness.

There’s live music at several venues around the city, alongside theatre and other performing arts.

At TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, the documentary Volcania, Life on Mars, directed by JuanMa V. Betancort, is being screened from Friday to Sunday at 7pm. It explores the connection between the Perseverance Mars rover mission and the volcanic landscapes of the Canary Islands.

The Auditorio de Tenerife also has performances of Deserto, by the company Polifônica, on Friday and Saturday at 7.30pm and Sunday at 12.30pm.

The Tricontinental Craft Fair

Another major event is the eighth Tricontinental Craft Fair, bringing together traditional crafts and demonstrations from Europe, Africa and the Americas, with Mexico as this year’s featured country.

Visitors can take part in workshops covering everything from Colombian origami and Mexican natural dyes to Costa Rican masks, Peruvian textiles and Mexican alebrijes.

There are also demonstrations of esparto weaving, leatherwork and filigree, alongside a programme of live music.

The fair runs until Sunday, 1 November.

Classic cars, Finados and family activities

The 25th Clásica Tenerife takes place from 29 October to 1 November, with historic vehicles travelling around Tenerife and La Gomera. On Sunday, there will be an exhibition of classic cars at Parque García Sanabria until 11am, followed by the traditional Revival event.

Local Finados traditions also feature in the weekend programme. Casa de la Juventud Lázaro Siliuto hosts a reading of Los finados. El día de los muertos on Thursday, while Santa Catalina Cemetery in El Sobradillo holds two All Saints’ Day masses on Sunday, at 11am and 5pm.

Chamberí also has children’s activities and a dance event planned for Sunday. However, Saturday’s activities at the sports centre have been suspended due to the official mourning period.

Exhibitions around Santa Cruz

There are several exhibitions worth adding to the list if you fancy a quieter afternoon.

At the Museum of Nature and Archaeology (MUNA), Concomitancias, part of Musa México 2026, explores cultural connections between Mexico and the Canary Islands. It is open Thursday to Saturday from 9am to 7pm, with last admission at 6.30pm, and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

TEA continues to show Cho Juaá: Collective Humour, looking at the work of Eduardo Millares Sall and his contribution to caricature in the Canary Islands.

Other exhibitions include Ay Bendito at Galería Leyendecker, Bajarse las bragas at Galería Bibli and Paisajes oníricos at Desván Blanco Espacio Cultural.

The CIIF Market 2026 also finishes on Friday at the Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey, bringing together professionals from the audiovisual industry for meetings and project presentations.
