Anyone planning a late night out in La Laguna over the coming months will have a little more time to enjoy it. The town council has approved exceptional opening hours for bars, restaurants and nightlife venues on seven dates between Halloween and early January 2027.
The measure, approved by the Municipal Urban Planning Department and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, allows certain venues to stay open later than usual, depending on their type and the occasion.
The extended hours apply on:
- 31 October: Halloween
- 20 November: Christmas lights switch-on
- 28 November: La Noche en Blanco
- 5 December: Eve of Constitution Day
- 24 December: Christmas Eve
- 31 December: New Year’s Eve
- 5 January: Eve of Three Kings’ Day
How late can venues stay open?
The rules vary according to the type of establishment.
On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, bars and restaurants without music can stay open until 4.30am. Venues with music can remain open until 6am, while nightclubs, dance halls and party venues with performances can continue until 8.30am. Concert venues have a closing time of 7.30am.
For the other five dates, the permitted closing times are slightly earlier:
- Restaurants and bars without music: 3.30am
- Bars and restaurants with music: 5am
- Nightclubs, dance halls and party venues: 7.30am
- Concert venues: 6.30am
There are a few conditions attached. The extension does not allow venues to put on shows that aren’t covered by their existing licence or change approved arrangements such as floor space, capacity or fire safety measures.
Once closing time arrives, establishments have a maximum of 30 minutes to clear the premises.
The change gives La Laguna’s nightlife businesses more flexibility on some of the busiest dates of the festive season, while keeping the existing licensing and safety rules in place.
