Art isn’t always about beauty. Some paintings and artists come with unsettling stories, strange mysteries and legends that have survived for generations.
The “Arte maldito” (Cursed Art) event invites visitors to explore the darker side of art history, looking at the disturbing tales and hidden meanings surrounding selected works and artists.
The themes include fear, death, evil and the images people created in the hope of protecting themselves from harm. It’s a chance to look beyond the surface of familiar artistic traditions and discover the stories that make certain works all the more intriguing.
The event takes place on Wednesday 28 October at 6pm at the Biblioteca Canaria.
Admission is free, so anyone with an interest in art, folklore and a few darker mysteries can come along.
