The Fiestas del Cristo de La Laguna 2026 are almost here, and this year’s programme has plenty going on.
The celebrations officially begin on Thursday, 3 September, and continue until Monday, 21 September, with a mixture of major concerts, traditional events, religious ceremonies, family activities, sport, comedy and cultural events taking place across the city.
And there are some pretty big names on the programme.
Antonio Orozco will headline the first big weekend with a free concert on Saturday, 5 September, while Luz Casal, Los Gofiones, Taburiente, Pitingo, Lucrecia and Patazeta are also among the artists taking part.
The main day is Monday, 14 September, when La Laguna celebrates the Día del Cristo, including the traditional processions and the spectacular Fuegos del Risco.
Thursday 3 September
The festivities officially get underway at 8:30pm in the Plaza del Cristo with the pregón, delivered this year by Pedro Arturo López Cabrera, former president of the Board of Brotherhoods and Guilds of San Cristóbal de La Laguna.
The opening will be followed by Canarias Sinfónica, a concert celebrating popular Canarian music under the direction of José Encinoso.
The performance will feature Juan Carlos Martín, Cali Fernández, Candelaria González, Camerata Lacunensis and musicians from several Tenerife bands.
Friday 4 September
The XLVIII Festival Sabandeño takes place at 9:00pm in the Plaza del Cristo.
This year’s edition is titled ¡Viva México! and will feature special appearances from Cristina Ramos and Jorge de León.
Saturday 5 September
Saturday is when things really get moving.
The sporting programme begins at 8:00am with the IX Santísimo Cristo de La Laguna Veterans Football Tournament at the Francisco Peraza Annex.
At 11:00am, the Orfeón La Paz hosts the XXIV Ciudad de La Laguna Inter-Island Domino Tournament.
The XLV Carrera Popular del Cristo starts at 5:00pm, with both the start and finish in the Plaza del Cristo.
Then comes the big one.
At 9:00pm, Antonio Orozco takes to the stage with La gira de tu vida. The concert is free to attend.
The evening continues at 11:00pm with a dance featuring Pepe Benavente and Orquesta Maquinaria Band.
Sunday 6 September
Families get their turn on Sunday, with the first Children’s Fair Sunday starting at 10:00am in the Plaza del Cristo.
There will be inflatables, games, music and other activities.
At 12:00pm, the Orquesta Filarmónica Juvenil de Tenerife Miguel Jaubert presents a family show inspired by Encanto.
Then, at 9:00pm, it’s time for the Noche de Humor, featuring Darío López, Abubukaka and Kike Pérez.
Monday 7 September
The Festival de Mayores takes place at 5:30pm, with performances from Shaila Dúrcal, Trío Zapatista and Los Manolos.
Tuesday 8 September
The Plaza del Cristo hosts the IV Verbena Inclusiva from 10:00am, including an accessible Latin dance masterclass, sign language and a performance from Dúo La Fiesta.
At 8:30pm, there will be an outdoor screening of Lilo y Stitch (2025).
Wednesday 9 September
At 11:00am, the Real Santuario hosts the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration and the traditional Descendimiento.
The Procession of the Transfer of the Venerated Image of the Santísimo Cristo then begins at 6:30pm, travelling from the Real Santuario to La Laguna Cathedral.
Thursday 10 September
At 9:00pm, the Plaza del Cristo will host the recording of En Otra Clave, the popular RTVC comedy programme.
Friday 11 September
Los Cantadores take to the stage at 9:00pm for the Concierto al Cristo de La Laguna.
They will be joined by special guests Pitingo and Lucrecia.
Saturday 12 September
There’s plenty happening on Saturday.
The Luchada Institucional Fiestas del Cristo 2026 begins at 11:00am.
At the same time, the Camino Largo-Avenida de la Universidad hosts La Artesanía en las Fiestas del Cristo, which continues until 13 September.
At 4:00pm, it’s time for the Tardeo Salsero, featuring Ruta Salsera Tenerife, Virginia Guantamanera and Moisés González y su orquesta.
The XIX Pasacalle de Tunas Universitarias takes place through the historic centre from 7:00pm.
Then at 10:00pm, the Megaverbenazo del Cristo 2026 takes over, with performances from Armonía Show, Ledes Díaz, Grupo Bomba and Victoria Escudero, La Leona.
Sunday 13 September
The second Children’s Fair Sunday starts at 10:00am.
At 12:00pm, Habemus Teatro presents the musical Las historias del genio.
Later, at 8:00pm, the Pandorga and Caballitos de Fuego Parade travels from Plaza de la Concepción to Plaza del Cristo.
At 9:00pm, the Noche de las Tradiciones will recognise the Agrupación Folklórica Bincheni de Taco and the family of Los Parranda.
The evening includes performances by Taburiente and Domingo Rodríguez, El Colorado, alongside various musicians and soloists.
At midnight, the traditional Fuegos de la Víspera light up the night.
Monday 14 September: Día del Cristo
This is the big day.
The 14 September is the main day of the celebrations and the Day of the Exaltation of the Cross.
The day begins at 7:00am with bells ringing across the Cathedral and other churches.
At 10:00am, the Civic-Military Procession carrying the Royal Standard travels from the Town Hall to the Cathedral.
At 10:45am, the official representative of King Felipe VI, represented by Canary Islands President Fernando Clavijo Batlle, will be received in the Cathedral square.
The Solemn Eucharist follows, together with the return procession of the Venerated Image of the Santísimo Cristo to its Real Santuario.
At 7:00pm, another Eucharistic celebration will take place in the atrium of the Real Santuario, followed by the traditional procession of the Cristo through the main streets of La Laguna.
Then at 11:00pm, the evening finishes with the spectacular Fuegos del Risco.
If you’ve never seen them before, this is probably not the night to decide you’d rather stay in and watch Netflix.
15 to 21 September
The celebrations continue after the main day.
On 15 September at 8:30pm, there will be an outdoor screening of Jurassic World: Rebirth.
On 16 September at 9:00pm, Ballet de Lenita Lindell presents Fuego Cruzado.
On 17 September at 9:00pm, the Opening ULL 2026 takes place, featuring Qubas, Rodrigo Fénix, DJ Nicky González, Ptazeta and DJ.
On 18 September, the programme includes Cristo Urbano, volleyball and Cristo Rock, followed at 9:00pm by Luz Casal, performing as part of her Me voy a permitir tour.
On 19 September, there will be more volleyball, the Noche del Patrimonio and the third edition of the Festival Siroco, featuring León Benavente, Victorias, Cervatana, Los Blosy and Belinda.
On 20 September, the final Children’s Fair Sunday takes place at 10:00am.
There will also be a traditional livestock-dragging competition, volleyball, the XIX Concert of the University of La Laguna Symphony Band and the XI Achamán Festival, with Los Gofiones as the invited group.
Finally, Monday 21 September marks the Octava del Cristo.
At 8:00pm, the Eucharist and Octava Procession will take place, followed at 11:00pm by the Fuegos de la Octava and the official closing of the festivities.
The wider programme concludes on 26 September at 8:00pm with the XVIII Velada del Cristo de Boxing San Cristóbal de La Laguna at the Esteban Afonso Rodríguez Sports Pavilion.
Exhibitions during the Fiestas del Cristo
There’s plenty happening away from the main stages too.
From 4 to 26 September, the Ermita de San Miguel Arcángel hosts Encuentros, an exhibition of drawings and watercolours of the Cristo de La Laguna by Manolo Sánchez.
From 5 to 15 September, Calle La Carrera hosts the XIX Exhibition of Old Photographs, Zenón el Fotógrafo.
The XV Antonio García Rueda Photography Marathon takes place from 10 to 15 September, also on Calle La Carrera.
Meanwhile, from 8 to 20 September, the Casa de los Capitanes hosts the XXI Alumni ULL Photography Exhibition, La Universidad de La Laguna 1976-1980, S. XX.
So, if you’re looking for something to do in La Laguna this September, you’re unlikely to run out of options.
From major concerts and comedy to religious traditions, children’s activities, sport, photography and plenty of late-night music, the Fiestas del Cristo 2026 will keep the city busy from 3 to 21 September, with the wider programme continuing until 26 September.
