If you fancy something a little different next weekend, Icod de los Vinos will be swapping its usual soundtrack for the lively sounds of Dixieland jazz.
On Saturday 25th July, the town will host its first Dixieland Band Festival, bringing live music to the streets of the historic centre with a morning of parades, concerts and a jam session.
It’s one of those events that should add plenty of atmosphere to an already charming part of Tenerife.
Music through the streets
The day gets underway at 11am with a lively Dixieland street parade, making its way from El Calvario to Plaza Andrés de Lorenzo Cáceres.
Three bands will be taking part in the parade:
- MoscoDixie
- Pixie Dixieland
- GuachipanDixie
If you’ve never experienced Dixieland music before, expect plenty of upbeat jazz, brass instruments and a festival atmosphere.
Live concert in the town square
From 12.30pm, the celebrations continue at the kiosk in Plaza Andrés de Lorenzo Cáceres.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a live concert, a Jam Session and a performance by the Mississippi Dixie Band, bringing the event to a fitting conclusion.
A different way to enjoy Icod
Icod de los Vinos is best known for its famous Dragon Tree, but events like this are another good reason to visit.
Live music in the streets, cafés spilling onto the pavements and one of Tenerife’s most attractive historic centres…it’s not a bad way to spend a Saturday morning.
If you’re in the north of the island on 25th July, it’s well worth popping along.
