Tenerife’s Only Public Campsite Is Now Open All Year Round and You Can Finally Book Online

Good news if you enjoy camping without having to wrestle with paperwork.

Punta del Hidalgo Campsite, the only publicly owned campsite in Tenerife, has officially reopened following a major refurbishment, and there’s a significant change that regular campers have been waiting for.

For the first time, the site will remain open 365 days a year, with online booking and payment now available.

A complete makeover

The campsite has undergone an extensive renovation after work began in January 2025, transforming its 24,000 square metres of facilities.

Visitors arriving this summer will find modernised amenities throughout the site, making it a far more comfortable base for exploring Tenerife’s spectacular north coast.

The reopening marks the end of a lengthy refurbishment and the start of a completely new way of managing the popular campsite.

No more seasonal closures

Previously, access to the campsite was much more limited, with seasonal opening periods and traditional booking systems.

Now, campers can reserve their pitch online whenever they want, making planning a weekend away or a longer stay much simpler.

Keeping the site open throughout the year also reflects Tenerife’s mild climate, where camping isn’t just a summer activity.

A welcome boost for outdoor tourism

Punta del Hidalgo has long been a favourite with people looking to enjoy a different side of Tenerife.

With the Anaga Rural Park on its doorstep, dramatic coastal walks nearby and natural swimming pools just a short stroll away, it’s an ideal base for anyone who prefers hiking boots to hotel slippers.

The modernised facilities should make the campsite even more attractive for both residents and visitors looking for an affordable way to experience one of the island’s most scenic areas.

It’s a practical improvement, but one that’s been a long time coming. Being able to book online and visit throughout the year brings Tenerife’s only public campsite much more in line with what travellers have come to expect.
