The Baile de Magos of Adeje is back.
On Friday 29 May, from 20:30, Plaza de España will once again fill with traditional dress, folk music and long tables as one of the municipality’s best-known celebrations returns.
And yes…
Traditional Canarian clothing is mandatory to enter.
No traje de mago… no entry.
An Evening of Music and Tradition
Organised by the Municipal Folklore School of Adeje, with support from the town hall, the evening will bring together several local groups for a night dedicated to Canarian music and customs.
Participating groups include:
• Rondalla Santa Ana
• Piedra Redonda
• Boleros de Armeñime
• Asociación Cultural Imoque
• La Diata
• Municipal Folklore School of Adeje
• School of Ethnography and Folklore Project
• Quimbao La Nuit
Most of the performers come from Adeje itself, keeping the event firmly rooted in local tradition.
Keeping Traditions Alive
The Baile de Magos remains one of the most important events in Adeje’s festive calendar.
Food, music, traditional dress and community tables…
Pretty much the full Canary Islands recipe.
As usual, Radio Sur Adeje (107.9 FM) will also broadcast special coverage from 20:00, focusing on the role of traditions in modern life.
Because in Tenerife…
May is basically one long run of bailes, romerías and people digging the traje out of the wardrobe again.
