New Jonathan Airjecor Artwork Brings Local Legend to Life in La Cruz Santa

Tenerife’s streets keep quietly turning into open-air galleries.

And La Cruz Santa has just added another one.

New Mural Inspired by a 17th Century Legend

📍 Calle Real — La Cruz Santa, Los Realejos

Tenerife artist:

🎨 Jonathan Airjecor

Has completed a new large-scale artwork as part of the international urban art project:

🖼 “6 de 12”

The mural sits beside the town square and draws inspiration from one of the area’s oldest local legends.

The Story Behind the Artwork

The piece references the story surrounding the discovery of the Cross in:

📍 Barranco de La Raya

A tale dating back to:

📅 1666

According to local oral tradition, the legend tells of a knight who fell from his horse, only for the animal to uncover a buried wooden beam in the ground.

The knight interpreted the discovery as:

✝️ A divine sign

And the story has remained part of local identity ever since.

Worth Knowing

One of the nicest things about Tenerife’s street art scene is that a lot of it actually tells local stories instead of just painting giant random faces staring into the distance.

And honestly…that makes wandering through towns like Los Realejos far more interesting.
