Tegueste is getting ready to welcome one of its most famous sons.
On Tuesday 11 August, the municipality will hold an official reception for Pedro González, Pedri, following his recent success with the Spanish national team.
And if you’re planning to head along, the advice from Tegueste Town Hall and the Cabildo is fairly simple: leave the car at home and take the guagua.
With plenty of fans expected to attend, public transport is being recommended to make getting into Tegueste easier and avoid unnecessary traffic around the town centre.
TITSA services to Tegueste
Several TITSA routes connect with Tegueste, giving people coming from La Laguna and surrounding areas a number of options.
The 050 provides a direct connection between La Laguna and Tegueste via the main road.
The 052 runs from the La Laguna Interchange to Tegueste, passing through El Socorro and Las Toscas.
There is also the 057, connecting La Laguna, Tacoronte, Tejina and Tegueste, while the 051 travels from the La Laguna Interchange to Tegueste via Pedro Álvarez.
So, unless you particularly enjoy hunting for a parking space while everyone else is doing exactly the same thing, the guagua looks like the sensible option.
The Pedri reception
The official reception begins at 5pm at Tegueste Town Hall.
The event will be attended by Tegueste mayor Juan Norberto Padilla, Cabildo president Rosa Dávila, representatives from both institutions, family members and invited guests.
The highlight for supporters will come when Pedri appears on the Town Hall balcony to greet the residents, visitors and fans who have come along.
The council and Cabildo are inviting people to take part in the tribute and celebrate the footballer’s achievements, including his latest success with Spain.
For Tegueste, it should be quite an afternoon.
And if you’re heading there, take the guagua. Your future self might thank you when everyone else is still circling the streets looking for somewhere to park.
