Three Canary Islands Ice Cream Parlours Named Among the Best in Spain

Let’s be honest…ice cream always tastes better when the sun’s shining, and here in Tenerife we get plenty of opportunities to put that theory to the test.

Now three ice cream parlours in the Canary Islands have been recognised as being among the very best in Spain after appearing in a national list compiled by some of the country’s leading gelato experts.

Not bad going.

Tenerife makes the list

Flying the flag for Tenerife is Menester Heladería in Puerto de la Cruz.

It’s a family-run business that’s been making quite a name for itself over the last few years, particularly with its award-winning Origen Cacao ice cream.

The secret seems to be keeping things simple by using high-quality ingredients and putting plenty of care into every flavour.

Earlier this year, that same creation helped Menester finish 12th in the 2026 Gelato Festival World Masters, one of the biggest competitions in the industry.

Two more winners in Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria didn’t do too badly either, with two parlours making the national recommendations.

The first is Dassie, located on Triana Street in Las Palmas. Although the company has several shops across Italy, this is its only location in Spain and it’s become a popular stop for both locals and tourists wandering around the city’s shopping district.

The second is + Di un Gelato, with parlours in Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán.

It earned praise for using natural ingredients, creating fresh flavours and constantly introducing new recipes without sacrificing quality.

More than just a holiday treat

The Canary Islands are already well known for their local food, but it’s nice to see businesses like these getting recognition on a national level.

It’s another reminder that the islands aren’t just about sunshine, beaches and year-round good weather. There are plenty of independent businesses producing food and drink that can more than hold their own against the rest of Spain.

So, whether you’re living here or simply visiting on holiday, these three ice cream parlours might be worth adding to your list.

After all, when the temperature starts climbing, it would almost be rude not to.
