La Laguna’s Municipal Volunteer Council will hold its Charity Market on 12 December at the Las Mantecas Scientific and Technological Park.
The event will run from 10:30 to 18:00 and will bring together local organisations, with stalls, workshops and activities planned throughout the day.
Applications open in September
Organisations interested in taking part can register from 15 September until 15 October.
Applications must be submitted through the official electronic register and must include proof of civil liability insurance.
Stalls will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so organisations planning to participate will need to get their applications in on time.
The announcement was made during the first working session of the Municipal Volunteer Council, where María Cruz, Councillor for Social Welfare and Quality of Life, said the market is intended to showcase the projects and resources available through local organisations while encouraging greater community involvement.
Workshops, games and local organisations
The market will include workshops, games for all ages and communal areas where visitors can meet, share experiences and learn more about the work being carried out by organisations across La Laguna.
Last year’s event involved around 27 organisations, representing areas including social support, environmental issues and animal welfare.
More activities and surprises are expected to be announced as the December date approaches.
International Volunteer Day
The council has also announced plans to mark International Volunteer Day on 4 December.
A formal event will take place at the Anchieta Disability Entities Centre (CEDA), recognising the voluntary and altruistic work carried out by local organisations.
New volunteering space online
The council is also introducing a new interactive volunteering section on its website.
The space is designed to raise awareness of volunteering, share information and improve communication between the council and local organisations.
It will also highlight opportunities for residents to get involved and provide feedback and suggestions for improving the service.
