Tenerife’s Sergio Rodríguez Sports Hall gets a facelift

If you’ve spent any time around Santa Cruz’s sports facilities, you’ll probably know the Sergio Rodríguez Sports Hall.

It’s one of those places that’s constantly busy. Local clubs, training sessions, competitions, schools…it’s in use most days of the week.

That’s why it’s good to see some money finally being spent on bringing it up to scratch.

The Cabildo has announced that work is progressing on a refurbishment of the sports hall at the Tenerife Santa Cruz-Ofra Sports Complex.

The biggest changes are the replacement of the sports flooring and improvements to the roof. Neither of these are particularly glamorous, but they’re exactly the sort of upgrades that make a real difference to the people using the building every day.

Safer surfaces, a better facility and hopefully fewer maintenance headaches in the future.

Part of a bigger investment

This isn’t the first improvement at the complex either.

Over the past few years the tennis and padel courts have been refurbished, new sports equipment has been installed and the family changing facilities at the Conchita Fernández de Misa swimming pool have also been expanded.

It’s easy to overlook these types of projects because they don’t make the headlines like a new stadium would.

But keeping existing facilities in good condition is often money better spent than letting them fall into disrepair and then having to start all over again.

For the thousands of local residents, sports clubs and young athletes who use the complex throughout the year, these improvements should make day-to-day life that little bit better.
