Finding a decent pizza in Tenerife isn’t difficult.
Finding one that genuinely stands out is another matter.
That’s where L’Isola Verde, a relatively new addition in Playa de las Américas, is hoping to make its mark. Rather than offering the same style of pizza as everyone else, the restaurant focuses on different doughs, traditional Italian techniques and quality ingredients.
It’s already attracting plenty of attention from local food lovers.
More than one way to make a pizza
One of the things that makes L’Isola Verde different is that it doesn’t rely on just one type of pizza base.
Instead, customers can choose from several styles, each with its own texture and character.
The menu includes:
- A traditional Daniele dough, using the restaurant’s own recipe.
- A multigrain pizza base.
- A double-cooked pizza, fried first before being finished in the oven.
- Padellino pizza, which is crispy on the outside and light and fluffy inside, served either filled or topped in the traditional Italian style.
It’s the sort of place where you can tell there’s been plenty of thought put into the food rather than simply trying to get pizzas out as quickly as possible.
Simple ingredients done properly
Local food content creator @elsiciliano_tenerife recently visited the restaurant and came away impressed, praising both the quality of the ingredients and the passion behind the kitchen.
In fact, one of his recommendations was to order something as simple as a Margherita.
When the ingredients are good, you don’t need to hide them under dozens of toppings.
There’s more than just pizza
While pizza is undoubtedly the main attraction, the menu also includes other traditional Italian dishes.
One of the highlights is the Zingara Ischitana, made with homemade toasted bread and filled with classic Italian ingredients.
There are also generous bruschettoni, packed with flavour and ideal for sharing before the main course.
Where to find it
L’Isola Verde is located at Avenida Antonio Domínguez 16, inside Udalla Park, in Playa de las Américas.
The restaurant is open:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday: 12.30pm to 3.15pm and 7pm to 11pm.
- Sunday: Evening service only.
- Wednesday: Closed.
If you’re spending time in the south of Tenerife and fancy a break from the usual tourist menus, this could be well worth adding to your list.
After all, good pizza is never a bad idea.
