Tenerife Junior Cycling Tour Returns (May 2–3)… Future Pros Taking on Proper Island Terrain

What’s Happening

The II Vuelta Ciclista a Tenerife Junior takes place this weekend…

📍 Across different parts of the island

Who’s Racing

Around 20 teams taking part:

  • National squads
  • International teams (Portugal & France)
  • Local Canary Island teams

So a decent level… not just a casual event.

Stage 1 (Saturday)

📍 La Laguna → Anaga → back to La Laguna
🚴 ~70 km

Quick start… then straight into:

  • Climbing towards El Bailadero
  • Technical descent
  • Final push via Las Mercedes

Short… but not easy.

Stage 2 (Sunday)

📍 La Laguna → Vilaflor
🚴 ~100 km

This is the one that decides it.

  • Long climb through TF-24
  • Over 2,000 metres elevation gain
  • Finish at 1,400m altitude

No hiding on this stage.

What’s New

The final stage will be live on Televisión Canaria

Which is a step up for visibility.

Why It Matters

Events like this tend to fly under the radar…

But they’re where young riders:

  • Get proper race experience
  • Compete internationally
  • Start building a career
