Tenerife Fashion Beach Continues in Costa Adeje Until 26 September

Tenerife Fashion Beach Costa Adeje got underway yesterday, Monday 21 September, bringing six days of fashion, swimwear and design to the south of Tenerife.

Now in its ninth edition, the event continues until Saturday 26 September, with a programme of fashion talks, creative workshops, professional events, a design market, model casting and sustainability activities taking place around Costa Adeje.

More than 11 specialist swimwear brands are involved this year, with a particular focus on local designers and creating opportunities for emerging talent.

Fashion from across the Canary Islands

For the first time, fashion brands from across the Canary Islands are being represented together as part of the programme.

Tenerife is represented by Arena Negra, Ananas Wear, Waiola, LAVA, Bea de la Rosa, The Knot Company and By Loleiro.

They are joined by Shamelu from La Palma, Machanga by Yess from La Gomera, Lislo from Gran Canaria and Macaronesia from Lanzarote.

It gives this year’s event a much broader island-wide feel, showcasing designers from several of the Canary Islands rather than focusing solely on Tenerife.

Fashion with a sustainability message

There is more to Tenerife Fashion Beach than the catwalk.

The programme includes fashion talks, creative workshops, a design market and a model casting, alongside activities connected with protecting the coastline and reducing plastic waste.

That environmental focus makes sense for an event taking place beside the Atlantic. There’s only so much plastic you can pretend not to notice when the sea is sitting right there.

The main catwalk is still to come

The big event takes place on Saturday 26 September, when the Designers’ Catwalk will be staged at Playa del Duque Norte in Costa Adeje.

The outdoor show will use the Atlantic Ocean as its backdrop, with the participating swimwear and accessories brands presenting their latest collections.

It should provide one of the more spectacular settings on the island for a fashion show.

From swimwear to Tenerife tourism

Tenerife Fashion Beach was created in 2017 as a platform to promote the island’s swimwear and textile industry.

Over the years, it has also developed a second role in promoting Tenerife itself as a destination.

The combination of fashion and tourism is central to the event, with Costa Adeje providing an international showcase for local designers while also putting one of Tenerife’s best-known holiday areas in the spotlight.

The event continues throughout this week, with the final Designers’ Catwalk bringing the ninth edition to a close on Saturday.
