Playa de El Socorro in Los Realejos is preparing for another busy weekend of surfing, bodyboarding, music and environmental activities as Socorro Classic reaches its final days.
On Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October, the beach will host the 20th Canary Islands Interclub Championships in Bodyboarding, Longboarding and Surfing, held in memory of David Mesa González.
The competitions will bring this year’s edition of Socorro Classic to a close, with the event promoted by the Canary Islands Surfing Federation and supported by Los Realejos Town Council, Tenerife Cabildo and the Canary Islands Government.
More than just a surfing competition
Socorro Classic has grown into more than a sporting event, with activities designed to promote physical health, environmental awareness and a broader appreciation of the coastline.
The programme also includes further performances as part of the Socorro Classic Sounds music festival, with food trucks on hand for anyone needing a break from the action.
It’s a good combination of sport, music and beachside activities, with something happening beyond the waves themselves.
A busy month for surf competitions
The final weekend follows a packed programme at Playa de El Socorro earlier in October.
Between 6 and 12 October, the beach hosted the European Longboard Tour (ETL) and European Tour of Bodyboard (ETB) championships, alongside rounds of the National Junior Surfing Circuit and the Canary Islands Surfing Federation’s men’s and women’s Open Surf competitions.
With the interclub championships now taking centre stage, Socorro Classic wraps up an eventful period for surfing in Los Realejos.
Location: Playa de El Socorro, Los Realejos, North Tenerife.
Dates: Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October 2026.
