A few days on… and it’s still being celebrated.
This time, a bit more formally.
The Reception
Santa Cruz City Hall hosted an official event to recognise:
- CD Tenerife’s promotion
- The role of the fans throughout the season
Players, staff, club figures… all there.
What Was Said
The message was pretty consistent:
This wasn’t just about results…
It was about collective effort.
- Players
- Coaching staff
- Supporters
All pulling in the same direction.
A Bit More Than Football
The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, made it clear this goes beyond sport.
Not just wins and losses…
But what it does for people:
- Restores a bit of hope
- Brings the city together
- Lifts the mood across the island
And to be fair… you could see that last weekend.
From the Club
President Felipe Miñambres kept it simple:
It’s about making people happy.
Which, after the last few seasons… probably hits home.
Manager Álvaro Cervera pointed the credit straight back at the players.
And captain Aitor Sanz thanked the city for backing them, especially when things weren’t going well.
The Moment
There was the usual exchange:
- A commemorative sculpture from the city
- A signed shirt from the team
And the municipal band playing in the background to wrap it up.
Worth Knowing
The celebrations might be calming down…
But the feeling hasn’t gone anywhere.
Promotion’s done.
Now it’s about what comes next.
