Most people don’t realise how hard it is to find a genuinely good, fairly priced restaurant in Tenerife until they actually start looking.
You scroll, you read reviews, you try a few places…some are decent, some are overpriced, and a few are just disappointing. It’s a bit of a lottery.
Then every now and then, you come across somewhere like this.
Not by the sea…still doing proper fish
La Roca is tucked away in Tíncer, nowhere near the front line of restaurants you’d expect for seafood.
Which makes it even more interesting.
They’re serving octopus salad, sardines, moray eel…simple, traditional dishes without trying to dress them up as something they’re not. And from what’s been said, they’re not cutting corners on portions either.
If you order octopus, you actually get octopus. Sounds obvious, but it’s not always the case.
Proper Canarian food, not the tourist version
The house specials are squid and goat meat, which tells you exactly who this place is really for.
That’s proper Canarian cooking. The kind locals eat. Not toned down, not repackaged, not trying to please everyone.
They also adjust things depending on the day. If the sea’s good, you’ll see prawns, octopus and moray eel on Fridays. Roast chicken gets added into the mix at the weekend…because of course it does.
It’s simple, but it works.
The price…this is the standout
This is the bit that makes people pay attention.
A full meal came to €22.90, with dessert included on the house.
Try doing that in most parts of the south and see how far you get.
It’s not just about being cheap either. It’s the balance of price, portion size and decent food that makes places like this stand out. You leave feeling like you’ve had a proper meal, not just paid for the location.
Worth knowing about
La Roca isn’t trying to be trendy. No sea views, no polished branding, no influencer-friendly corners.
Just solid, home-style cooking at a fair price.
If you’re living here or don’t mind heading slightly off the usual tourist trail, these are the places that are actually worth your time.
