Preparations for Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Spain continue to gather pace, and this week the Pontiff was officially presented with his accreditation as a “special guest” for the events taking place between 6 and 12 June across Madrid, Barcelona, Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
The accreditation was personally delivered by Rafael Rubio, communication coordinator for the papal visit, following the Pope’s general audience.
The card itself carried a simple message:
“Pope Leo XIV – Special Guest. Full Access.”
Fair enough really… probably the one person guaranteed entry everywhere.
More Than 500,000 Registrations Already
Organisers say the gesture also serves another purpose.
They are encouraging people planning to attend the events to register through official channels, helping organisers prepare logistics and manage attendance.
So far, registrations have already passed:
500,000 participants
According to organisers:
“Registration is free, but it helps us organise the celebrations and prepare the best possible welcome for pilgrims.”
Tenerife Events Will Have Capacity Limits
Although attendance remains free, organisers confirmed that some events will have limited capacity, including celebrations planned in:
• Barcelona
• Gran Canaria
• Tenerife
Meanwhile, the large Corpus Christi Mass and procession in Madrid on Sunday 7 June will remain open access, although registration is still encouraged for planning purposes.
Tenerife Preparing for the Visit
The papal visit will bring Tenerife into an international programme running across four locations in Spain.
Details about the island events continue to emerge as preparations move forward.
With registrations already above half a million…
It’s safe to say this won’t be a quiet week in Tenerife.
