If you’ve ever fancied trying authentic Peruvian food without travelling to South America, this weekend offers the perfect opportunity.
On Saturday 25 July, Parque Las Indias in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host the Third Peruvian Gastronomic and Cultural Fair, bringing together traditional dishes, live music, folk dancing and artisan crafts in a free family event.
Running from 12 noon until 6.00pm, the fair is organised by the Peruvian Community of Tenerife in collaboration with Santa Cruz City Council.
A Taste of Peru
Food is, unsurprisingly, the star of the show.
Visitors will be able to sample some of Peru’s best-known dishes, including ceviche, causa limeña and ají de gallina, alongside a variety of other specialities that have helped make Peruvian cuisine one of the world’s most highly regarded.
A number of local restaurants will be serving food throughout the day, including:
- Edtoart
- Millo
- Mistura
- Aroma y Sabor
- Machu Picchu
- Pollos a la Brasa
- Ceviche N1
- Ceviboom
Food suppliers Congelados Alba and Mel Chio will also be taking part.
More Than Just Great Food
The event isn’t only about what’s on the plate.
Throughout the afternoon there will be live music, traditional Peruvian dance performances and displays of handmade crafts, offering visitors a chance to experience some of the country’s rich cultural heritage.
Organisers hope the fair will provide a welcoming space where both the Peruvian community and local residents can come together to celebrate diversity in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
Growing Every Year
Now in its third edition, the fair continues to expand, with more restaurants and performers joining the programme.
According to Víctor Ramírez, President of the Peruvian Community of Tenerife, this year’s event will also feature singers who have recently arrived from Peru after performing with some of the country’s leading orchestras.
A Free Day Out in Santa Cruz
With six hours of food, music and entertainment, the Peruvian Gastronomic and Cultural Fair has become one of the more colourful additions to Tenerife’s summer events calendar.
Whether you’re already a fan of Peruvian cuisine or simply curious to try something different, it’s an easy way to spend an afternoon enjoying one of the world’s most celebrated culinary traditions without leaving the island.
