If you’re into live music, there’s a decent one on this week.
Pianist Martín García García is back at the Auditorio de Tenerife this Tuesday, with a recital starting at 7:30pm in the Chamber Hall.
A Proper Classical Line-Up
The programme focuses on Chopin and Liszt, which, if you know your piano music, pretty much covers both ends of the Romantic spectrum.
Chopin keeps things more contained and expressive… Liszt goes the other way, bigger, louder, and a bit more dramatic.
That contrast is the whole point of the recital. Two different ways of approaching the same idea, played out on the same instrument.
What to Expect
The concert, titled “Odyssey, Legend and the Ascent to the Monumental”, follows a bit of a journey:
From storytelling pieces
Through more symbolic, expressive works
And into the bigger, more powerful compositions
In simple terms… it builds as it goes.
Worth Going?
García’s played on some of the bigger stages across Europe, the US, and Asia, so this isn’t someone just passing through.
If you enjoy piano music, or just want something a bit different from the usual evenings out, it’s worth a look.
