Los Cristianos will celebrate its fishing heritage on Saturday, 29 August, with the return of the Feria del Pescado, an event that puts local fishing, seafood and the traditions of the area’s fishermen firmly in the spotlight.
Now in its 12th edition, the event is organised by the Municipal Department of Economic Promotion, Primary Sector and Employment of Arona, with activities taking place around the Plaza de la Pescadora and Muelle Viejo.
📅 Date: Saturday, 29 August 2026
📍 Area: Los Cristianos, Arona
🕔 Time: 17:00 to 23:00
The fair has been created to highlight the importance of traditional local fishing and recognise the work of the fishermen who have played such an important role in the history and identity of Los Cristianos.
Fish, food and local traditions
The Plaza de la Pescadora will host the main exhibition, organised by the Cofradía de Pescadores de Nuestra Señora de Las Mercedes.
The exhibition will run throughout the event, from 17:00 to 23:00, giving visitors an opportunity to discover more about the area’s fishing heritage.
There will also be children’s workshops from 17:00 to 20:00, making the event a good option for families.
Music will begin at 18:30, with a performance from the Asociación Sociocultural Herederos de Chasna.
That will be followed by Grupo Vinomios Folk at 20:00, before Compañía Jeita closes the evening’s entertainment with its musical show De Vuelta at 21:30.
Michelin-starred chef joins local fishermen
The culinary side of the event will take place at Muelle Viejo, where visitors can watch a special show cooking session from 19:00 to 21:00.
Leading the demonstration will be Diego Schattenhofer, executive chef at Taste 1973, alongside local fishermen from Arona.
The session will focus on seafood and traditional recipes connected to the fishing community of Los Cristianos.
And then comes the important bit.
From 21:30 to 23:00, visitors will be able to enjoy a tasting of seafood recipes prepared in the style of the fishermen of Los Cristianos.
The event will be presented by Isabel Pérez Navarro.
A celebration of Los Cristianos and its fishing heritage
The Feria del Pescado is about more than food.
Los Cristianos has a long connection with the sea, and events like this provide an opportunity to recognise the people and traditions behind that history while introducing them to a new generation.
There will be food, music, workshops and plenty of local character, all taking place beside the harbour.
Not a bad way to spend a Saturday evening.
