Les Ballets Espagnols de La Argentina – 4 to 6 June 2026

Auditorio de Tenerife welcomes Les Ballets Espagnols de La Argentina with the production Juerga, Triana y Suite de Danzas, running from 4 to 6 June 2026.

This spectacular performance combines Spanish dance, live orchestral music and historic choreography, accompanied by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra under the artistic direction and choreography of renowned dancer and choreographer Antonio Najarro.

A Tribute to La Argentina

The production pays homage to Antonia Mercé, known as “La Argentina”, one of the most influential figures in Spanish dance.

In 1929, La Argentina returned to Paris and captivated audiences through her celebrated Ballets Espagnols, blending traditional Spanish dance with modern artistic influences. Her work helped shape a new and universal vision of Spanish dance that remains influential today.

Historic Works Reimagined

The programme revives two important works that premiered in 1929:

Juerga by Julián Bautista

Triana by Isaac Albéniz

The production also incorporates a selection of dance pieces from the original repertoire of La Argentina.

Antonio Najarro has drawn inspiration from the original costumes and stage designs created by celebrated artists including Néstor Martín-Fernández de la Torre, recreating the visual elegance and artistic spirit of the era.

A Major Cultural Collaboration

The production is a collaboration between several leading cultural institutions:

✔ Juan March Foundation

✔ Auditorio de Tenerife

✔ Teatro de la Zarzuela

✔ Teatro de la Maestranza

✔ Granada International Festival of Music and Dance

✔ Palau de les Arts de Valencia
