If you’ve got young people in the family who spend half the summer saying they’re bored, La Laguna’s Pasaporte Joven 2026 might be worth a look.
The programme is back with another week of activities spread across different parts of the municipality, including Camino El Tornero, La Laguna town centre, Punta del Hidalgo and Los Baldíos.
And there’s quite a bit going on.
From gaming and escape rooms to DJs, salsa dancing and an outdoor screening of Godzilla vs. Kong, they’ve covered plenty of bases.
Games, workshops and an escape room
Things get underway on Wednesday 26 August at the Centro Ciudadano Camino El Tornero.
The Asociación Juvenil Camino El Tornero will be running a youth activity day from 10.30am until 1.30pm, with a gaming zone, escape room, plaster figure painting and board games.
Then on Friday 28 August, Carlos Duende takes over with a DJ set at Camino El Tornero from 9pm.
Saturday brings dancing and activities to Plaza del Adelantado
On Saturday 29 August, the action moves into La Laguna itself for the Desafío Scout, running from 10am until 2pm in Plaza del Adelantado.
There will be activities for children and young people, craft workshops, non-alcoholic cocktail making, plus urban dance and salsa classes.
A reasonably good way to keep the kids busy without handing them another screen and hoping for the best.
Salsa in Los Baldíos and Godzilla in Punta del Hidalgo
Sunday 30 August wraps things up with two very different events.
In Los Baldíos, the square outside the San Francisco de Paula church will host the Ruta Salsera from 5pm until 9pm.
DJ Fran Gil and Laura Mambox will be providing the music, with dancing, social activities and even a giant conga line. Because apparently normal-sized conga lines just weren’t ambitious enough.
Meanwhile, over in Punta del Hidalgo, outdoor cinema returns with a screening of Godzilla vs. Kong as part of the Pasaporte Joven summer programme.
More than 100 activities already organised
According to La Laguna Council, this year’s edition has already included more than 100 events.
The programme has covered everything from summer cinema and cultural visits to workshops, youth meetings, sport and music festivals.
The idea is simple enough. Give young people more opportunities to get out, meet people and do something a bit different.
And judging by the variety on offer this week, there’s a decent chance of finding something that doesn’t involve sitting at home scrolling through a phone.
