The village of Igueste is getting ready for one of its biggest celebrations of the year, as the Fiestas in honour of the Holy Trinity return from 31 July to 9 August.
The programme combines long-standing traditions with live music, sporting events and activities for all ages, making it one of the highlights of the summer calendar.
A Packed Programme
The festivities begin with traditional celebrations, including the diana floreada morning procession, the official opening speech and the ringing of the church bells.
Throughout the ten days, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of events, including:
- Football tournament
- Traditional wrestling match between singles and married residents
- Foam party with inflatable water attractions
- Children’s afternoon with bouncy castles and face painting
- Cuban-themed party, Al Son de La Habana
- Beer festival
Live Music Every Night
As always, music plays a major part in the celebrations.
Several well-known orchestras and bands will provide entertainment during the evening dances, including:
- Libertad de La Palma
- Los Moriscos
- Dinacord
- Acapulco
- Wamampy
Along with other performers scheduled throughout the festival.
The Main Celebration
The festival reaches its climax on Sunday 9 August.
The day will begin with a Holy Mass, followed by a special tribute marking the 40th anniversary of C.D. Igueste.
The traditional religious procession will then make its way through the village before the celebrations conclude with a spectacular fireworks display.
