Fancy a free taco?
There’s a catch.
Taco Bell at Meridiano Shopping Centre in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is giving away free tacos this afternoon as part of its National Taco Day celebrations.
The promotion starts at 4pm today, Tuesday, but anyone wanting to take part needs to turn up with a flag.
Bring a flag, get your taco
The idea is deliberately a bit silly, which is probably why it works.
Customers need to bring a flag from any country or wear clothing featuring one.
There’s then another condition. When ordering, you have to say the word “taco” in the language associated with your flag.
So if you turn up waving a Spanish flag, you’d better know how to say taco in Spanish.
Thankfully, that’s one of the easier ones.
The promotion is taking place at the Taco Bell in Meridiano Shopping Centre, one of Santa Cruz’s main shopping centres and, for anyone who hasn’t been, the one with Primark.
Don’t leave it too late
The giveaway starts at 4pm, and as with these sorts of promotions, free food is likely to be available only while supplies last.
So if you’re planning to wander into Meridiano waving a flag and shouting “taco”, I’d probably get there reasonably early.
It’s certainly a more interesting way to spend a Tuesday afternoon.
