Puerto de la Cruz has completed a major safety improvement project at its historic fishing dock ahead of one of the busiest periods in the town’s calendar, with thousands expected to attend the traditional celebrations in honour of Our Lady of Carmen.
The €50,000 investment has focused on improving safety and accessibility around the dock before the famous maritime and land procession, which will take place on 14th July as part of the annual festivities.
The works included repairs to sections of the protective sea wall, an area that suffers constant wear due to exposure to the Atlantic. The improvements are designed to provide a safer environment for residents, visitors and the many participants who gather around the harbour during the celebrations.
As part of the project, the council also renewed the dock’s signage, reinforcing the area’s maritime identity while improving the overall appearance of one of Puerto de la Cruz’s most recognisable landmarks.
The refurbishment forms part of the municipality’s wider programme of preparing public spaces ahead of the July festivities, ensuring the fishing dock remains both functional and welcoming during one of the town’s busiest times of the year.
