Costa Adeje is getting a weekend of clowning, circus, physical theatre and quite a lot of things that probably shouldn’t be possible with a guitar.
The Festival Internacional Clownbaret (FIC) is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2026, and Costa Adeje is joining the party on 2 and 3 October with seven performances spread across Plaza de Salytien and Calle Rafael Puig Lluvina.
The programme brings together performers and companies from Spain and abroad, with shows aimed at all ages.
Friday starts with guitars and a bit of chaos
The Costa Adeje programme gets underway on Friday 2 October at 7pm in Plaza de Salytien, where Paul Morocco will present Duo Olé.
Morocco combines comedy, music, physical theatre and circus skills, joined by flamenco guitarist and performer Marcial Heredia.
The guitars don’t exactly get a quiet life in this show. They become part of the comedy, acrobatics and general madness.
At 8pm, things move to Calle Rafael Puig Lluvina for Chilean street performer Tuga and Con su permiso.
It’s a mix of clown, mime, physical theatre and improvisation, with the audience very much part of the action.
The first evening finishes at 9pm back at Plaza de Salytien with Spinish Circo and Fins al cel.
The Valencian company brings seven performers together for a contemporary circus show involving collective acrobatics, Russian bar, banquines, human lifts, movement and live music.
So, basically, quite a lot going on above ground.
Saturday brings an 80s revival
The Saturday programme starts at 6.30pm with Eddy Eighty and The Power of the 80’s.
The character is the alter ego of Valencian performer Gonzalo Santamaría, who has more than 20 years of professional experience combining juggling, balance and comedy.
At 7.30pm, Compagnie de La Liberté presents aaAhh BIBI, created and performed by Julien Cottereau.
This is a more visual and poetic performance, combining clown, mime, gesture and sound creation. Cottereau creates characters and sounds using movement and very little spoken language.
Then at 8.30pm, Tuga returns with another performance of Con su permiso.
The final show of the Costa Adeje programme starts at 9.30pm, when Spinish Circo brings Fins al cel back to Plaza de Salytien.
Twenty years of Clownbaret
The Costa Adeje programme forms part of the wider 20th anniversary edition of FIC, which is taking clown, circus and comedy to different streets, squares and cultural venues around Tenerife during 2026.
For two decades, the festival has been bringing international and national artists to the island, proving that you don’t necessarily need a theatre, a complicated stage or a particularly sensible idea to put on a good show.
