Someone in Tenerife could be celebrating a rather substantial windfall after a Bonoloto lottery ticket sold in La Orotava landed a first-category prize worth €496,105.69.
The winning ticket was validated at the lottery outlet in Centro Comercial La Villa, number 2, according to Spain’s state lottery operator, Loterías y Apuestas del Estado.
The prize came from a Bonoloto draw reported as taking place on Tuesday, although the supplied announcement gives the date as 13 September, which doesn’t appear to match the October timing of the report.
The winning numbers
The numbers drawn were:
11, 13, 28, 31, 41 and 42
The complementary number was 20, with a reimbursement number of 0.
The first-category prize was also won by a ticket sold in Marratxí, Mallorca, so Tenerife wasn’t the only place celebrating.
There was more good news for other players, too. Second-category winners, matching five numbers plus the complementary number, each secured a prize of more than €50,000. The winning tickets were sold in Elche, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Zaragoza.
How does Bonoloto work?
Bonoloto is a daily Spanish lottery in which players choose six numbers from 1 to 49.
A basic ticket costs €1, with each individual combination priced at €0.50. Around 55% of the money collected is allocated to prizes across the different winning categories.
For the lucky ticket holder in La Orotava, though, the numbers have worked out rather nicely. Nearly half a million euros is a decent result for a small lottery ticket.
Now comes the interesting part: finding out who bought it.
