Fancy spending an evening discussing the meaning of life instead of discussing the weather?
The Cafés Filosóficos in Arona return this October with four sessions looking at some fairly big questions, giving people the chance to share ideas, listen to different opinions and, presumably, leave with even more questions than they arrived with.
The sessions are informal and open to different points of view.
6 October: Creativity
What does it mean to create? Are we really creative? Where do our ideas come from?
The first session looks at creativity.
📍 Centro Cultural Valle San Lorenzo
13 October: Freedom
Are we genuinely free to make our own decisions, or are we shaped by our surroundings, history and circumstances?
The second evening tackles freedom, which should keep everyone quiet for at least five minutes while they think about it.
📍 Centro Cultural Los Cristianos
20 October: Justice
What makes a society fair? Is equality actually possible? And what is truly just?
This session turns to justice, with plenty of room for different interpretations.
📍 Centro Cívico Las Galletas
27 October: Reality
Is there one single reality? How do we construct our own view of the world?
The final session looks at reality, which seems like a perfectly straightforward subject until you start thinking about it.
📍 Centro Cultural Los Cristianos
Four meetings.
Four big questions.
And plenty of opportunities to stop, think, have a coffee and see how other people look at the world.
