Arona Launches Its First Trail Race Through the Municipality’s Scenic Highlands

Arona is expanding its sporting calendar with the launch of its first-ever trail running event. The I Arona Trail 2026 – Memorial Óscar Hernández will take place on Sunday, 11 October, offering runners a 10-kilometre mountain race through some of the municipality’s most picturesque rural landscapes.

Organised by the Arona Town Hall through the Municipal Sports Board, the event reflects the municipality’s growing commitment to outdoor sports and activities that showcase Tenerife’s natural surroundings.

A Scenic Route Through Arona’s Highlands

The race will begin at 10:00 am in Valle San Lorenzo and finish in Plaza del Cristo de la Salud in Arona town centre.

Participants will follow a route through the municipality’s medianías (mid-altitude rural areas), combining trail running with panoramic views and traditional countryside scenery.

The new event aims to encourage outdoor exercise while highlighting one of the lesser-known areas of southern Tenerife.

A New Addition to Arona’s Sporting Calendar

The I Arona Trail 2026 – Memorial Óscar Hernández marks the first edition of what organisers hope will become a regular fixture in Arona’s annual sporting programme.

By introducing a trail running event, the Municipal Sports Board continues to diversify its calendar with activities that promote healthy lifestyles and encourage people to enjoy Tenerife’s natural environment.

Registration is now open and will remain available until Wednesday, 7 October, unless all places are filled earlier.
