Santa Cruz de Tenerife has revealed the five finalists competing to become the official poster for Carnival 2027, and now the public gets to decide which one takes the crown.
The popular vote opens on Monday 5 October at 7:30pm and will remain open until 12 October.
The winning design will become the official image for next year’s Carnival, which has the rather grand theme of ‘Roma Eterna: el imperio del Carnaval’.
Five designs make the final
A total of 41 proposals were submitted to the competition before the jury selected the five finalists.
They are:
- Ayoze Felipe Gómez
- Eduardo Puyol
- Juliana Serrano
- Lucía Casanova
- Nareme Melián
All five now go head-to-head in the public vote, with each person able to cast one vote.
How do you vote?
The vote will take place through the official Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival website.
It opens at 7:30pm on 5 October and closes on 12 October, giving people a week to look through the five designs and decide which one they want to see representing the 2027 Carnival.
So, for once, you get to have a say before the posters start appearing everywhere.
What’s the prize?
The winning artist will receive €12,000, as well as seeing their design become the official poster for Carnival 2027.
The other four finalists won’t go home empty-handed either. Each will receive €1,000 for reaching the final.
When does Carnival 2027 begin?
The winning poster will represent the Carnival under the theme ‘Roma Eterna: el imperio del Carnaval’.
The unveiling of the chosen design will also mark the official start of the 2027 Carnival celebrations, with the opening gala scheduled for 22 January.
Five designs.
One public vote.
And, inevitably, quite a few opinions about which one should win.
