Arona Deportes Closes Summer 2026 With Almost 3,000 Participants

Arona’s summer sports programme has finished for another year, with 2,906 registrations across the different activities organised by the municipal sports department.

That’s an increase of 122 participants compared with summer 2025, when 2,784 registrations were recorded.

Not a bad turnout for a programme that basically gives people plenty of ways to stay active while the rest of us are trying not to melt.

Something for all ages

The 2026 programme included activities for different ages and abilities, using sports centres as well as beaches, open spaces and the maritime environment around the municipality.

There was a fairly broad mix, including:

  • Swimming courses
  • Baby and children’s swimming
  • Water sports
  • Sailing
  • Beach games
  • Beach volleyball
  • Paddle tennis
  • Tennis
  • Golf
  • Activities for adults
  • The Polidivertido programme

The idea was to combine traditional sports with introductory activities and more relaxed ways of keeping active during the summer holidays.

Water sports prove popular

The nautical activities attracted the largest number of participants, with 568 registrations.

Other popular parts of the programme included:

  • Polidivertido: 285 participants
  • Adult activities: 180 participants
  • Beach games: 159 participants

The programme was delivered by 25 qualified instructors and coaches, who worked across the different facilities and outdoor locations.

A growing summer programme

With 2,906 registrations, Arona Deportes has recorded another increase compared with the previous summer.

The programme continues to combine organised sport, leisure and activities for different age groups, making use of everything from municipal sports facilities to the beaches and coastline.

For a place like Arona, having the sea as part of the sports infrastructure is certainly one way of making the most of what you’ve got on the doorstep.
