Ofra-Costa Sur will once again become one of the focal points of Pride celebrations in Santa Cruz de Tenerife as the district hosts the second edition of the Week of Respect, a programme promoting diversity, inclusion and community coexistence.
Running from 18 to 24 June, the initiative is organised by Santa Cruz City Council and brings a series of cultural, recreational and educational activities to neighbourhood venues across the district.
The aim is to encourage values such as equality, respect and inclusion through accessible events designed for people of all ages.
Activities Across the District
The programme begins with ZumbaQueer at the Bruma de Taburiente Seniors Association, combining exercise, music and fun in an inclusive environment.
On 20 June, participants can take part in Trivial Queer, organised by Exuberancia Carei at the Somosierra Social and Cultural Association. The activity offers an interactive way to learn about diversity and social rights.
The programme also includes Tombo Drac, which will be held on 20 June at the Cubo de la Galga Seniors Association and again on 24 June at the San Martín de Porres Neighbourhood Association in Chamberí.
The Week of Respect will conclude with an Inclusive Storytelling Session at the headquarters of Copile, the Association of Adoptive Families. Through stories and adapted narratives, the event aims to promote empathy, understanding and respect for differences from an early age.
Bringing Pride to Local Communities
Following the success of its inaugural edition, the Week of Respect continues to bring Pride celebrations directly into neighbourhood spaces, creating opportunities for residents to meet, share experiences and reflect on the importance of building more inclusive communities.
With this second edition, Ofra further strengthens its role as one of the key locations for Pride activities in Santa Cruz, helping to promote diversity, tolerance and respect throughout the city.
