Besay Pérez and Iván Quintana Open Santa Cruz May Festivities Concerts This Weekend

Santa Cruz kicks off the musical side of its May Festivities this Friday…

And it starts with a tribute to one of the Canary Islands’ most important cultural figures.

“Cartas a Néstor” Opens the Weekend

📍 Plaza de La Candelaria
🗓 Friday
🕗 20:00
🎟 Free entry

The concert “Cartas a Néstor” pays tribute to the legacy of Néstor Álamo, whose work remains deeply tied to Canarian music and identity.

A Blend of Symphony and Tradition

Leading the performance will be:

🎤 Besay Pérez
🎤 Iván Quintana

Joined by musicians from the Orquesta Sinfónica de Las Palmas alongside traditional Canarian instruments.

The idea is to mix:

  • Symphonic arrangements
  • Folk roots
  • Traditional island music

All in the middle of one of Santa Cruz’s most iconic squares.

More Concerts Across the Weekend

The music doesn’t stop there either.

Saturday

🎶 “Santa Cruz, corazón mundial del bolero”

One of the best-known events within the May celebrations, bringing together artists linked to the bolero genre.

Sunday

🎻 Festival Multicultural Tajaraste

Dedicated to:

  • Canarian folklore
  • Traditional music
  • Cultural heritage across the islands

Worth Knowing

The Plaza de La Candelaria has become one of the main focal points of the Fiestas de Mayo again this year…

And these free outdoor concerts usually fill up quickly.

Especially when traditional Canarian music is involved.
