Something a bit different down in the north this weekend.
The Spanish Junior and Senior Artistic Swimming Championships kick off on Friday, 10th April at the Centro de Deportes Acuáticos in Puerto de la Cruz… running through to Sunday.
What’s Happening
This isn’t a small event.
- 300+ athletes
- 30 clubs from across Spain
- Over 1,000 people expected including staff and supporters
So the place will be busy.
Big Names Involved
Some of the national team’s top athletes will be competing, along with the presence of Andrea Fuentes, one of Spain’s most recognised names in artistic swimming.
There’s also a standout moment on Saturday at 12:45, where Lilou Lluís and Iris Tió will perform their new technical duet routine… worth seeing if you’re into it.
Why It Matters
It’s another sign of Tenerife pushing more into major sports events.
This same venue is already lined up to host the U18 Women’s Water Polo World Championship in August, so it’s clearly part of a bigger plan.
Worth Going?
If you’ve never watched artistic swimming live… it’s actually more impressive than it looks on TV.
Strength, timing, and a lot of control going on under the surface.
And you don’t get chances like this that often on the island.
