There are plenty of ways to explore Tenerife, but this one sounds like a pretty good excuse to spend a day eating your way through the north before finishing somewhere spectacular.
The route takes in Buenavista, local food and Punta de Teno, combining a bit of village life, something sweet, a proper lunch and some of the best views on the island.
Not a bad way to spend a day.
Start in Buenavista
The route begins in Buenavista del Norte, where it’s worth taking a wander around the town and its charming main square.
From there, the first important stop is El Aderno.
Because no decent day out should begin without something sweet.
The bakery is known for its traditional rosquetes and other artisan pastries, so it’s a good place to stop for a coffee and a bit of sugar before continuing.
Then comes lunch
Next up is Bodegón Patamero, where the focus shifts from pastries to proper Canarian food.
A good lunch is probably advisable before heading off towards the final part of the route, especially if you’ve been a little too enthusiastic at the bakery.
Finish at Punta de Teno
After lunch, the route heads towards what content creator Ismael Peral describes as “the end of the world”.
He’s talking about Punta de Teno, at the far north-western tip of Tenerife.
The journey itself is part of the experience, with dramatic scenery opening up as you approach the coast. Access is restricted at certain times, so using public transport is often the easiest option.
At the end, you’ll find the Teno lighthouse, surrounded by volcanic rock and looking out over crystal-clear water.
It’s one of those parts of Tenerife that feels completely different from the busy resorts in the south.
A bit of exploring, something sweet, a proper lunch and then some ridiculous views to finish the day.
Sounds like a decent route to me.
