Spain have finished as runners-up at the Women’s Under-18 Water Polo World Championship, held this week at the Tenerife Aquatic Sports Centre.
The Spanish team took home the silver medal after an impressive tournament, with Australia claiming gold and the United States taking bronze.

The championship was also a big moment for Tenerife. The Tenerife Aquatic Sports Centre hosted its first World Championship event, with packed stands, plenty of support for the teams and a great atmosphere throughout the competition.
The tournament was organised by the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation and supported by the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government and Puerto de la Cruz Town Hall.
For Tenerife, it was another chance to show that the island can host major international sporting events. And judging by the crowds and atmosphere, the venue certainly passed its first big test.
