Traffic Disruptions Expected in Candelaria During II Rally Ciudad de La Laguna

Drivers in Candelaria are being advised to plan ahead this Saturday as temporary road closures will be in place while the II Rally Ciudad de La Laguna passes through the municipality.

The regional motorsport event includes two timed stages that will affect several island and municipal roads between approximately 3:45pm and 7:30pm. Local authorities are urging residents to allow extra travel time and follow the instructions of police officers and event marshals.

Stage 7: Los Loros

The first affected section is Stage 7 – Los Loros, which begins at 4:45pm.

The TF-523 (the Teide road via Arafo) will be closed from 3:45pm until approximately 6:45pm, covering the stretch from the junction with the Teide road via La Esperanza to the Bodega Comarcal.

The council says there will be no significant impact on municipal roads in Candelaria, although access to some private properties may be temporarily restricted.

Stage 8: Candelaria

The second stage begins at 5:30pm, with road closures in place from 4:30pm until approximately 7:30pm.

The affected route includes the TF-247 (Los Peneras), starting shortly after the junction with Camino La Punta before joining the TF-28, continuing beyond Lomo Juan Díaz.

Alternative Routes Available

To minimise disruption, the council has identified several diversion routes:

  • Calle Chicoro: Access via Calle El Seifón, Camino La Punta and the TF-28.
  • Calle Seifón: Diversion via Camino La Punta towards the TF-28.
  • Calle La Herradura: Access via Calle Los Cuchillos, Malpaís, La Cañaíta, La Hidalga (Arafo) and the TF-28.
  • Calle San Antonio: Alternative route via La Cañaíta, La Hidalga and the TF-28.
  • Calle El Madroño: As the road will be closed at its upper end, motorists are advised to park in Calle Guaches de la Virgen or nearby streets.

Roads Without Alternative Access

During the closures, there will be no access to:

  • Calle Vence (descending section at the TF-28 junction)
  • Calle Lomo Juan Díaz
  • Camino El Guarrajo
  • The section of the Malpaís road between the TF-28 and TF-247
  • Calle Niaza
  • Calle La Sabinita
  • Calle Agustiniano
  • Other direct access roads connecting to the affected sections of the TF-247 and TF-28

Candelaria Town Hall has thanked residents for their understanding, noting that the rally is an official sporting event operating under the supervision of emergency services and security authorities.
