Tenerife pastry chef Alexis García receives International Pastry Chef of the Year award

Tenerife pastry chef Alexis García has been recognised as International Pastry Chef of the Year by the International Academy of Gastronomy, adding another prestigious accolade to an already impressive career.

The award was presented during a ceremony held at the Hotel Santo Mauro in Madrid, where Luis Suárez de Lezo, President of the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy, praised the country’s leading culinary professionals.

“We aim to reflect what is happening in Spain by recognising projects and professionals that we consider outstanding,” Suárez de Lezo said during the event.

A growing list of prestigious awards

Alexis García, who works alongside Marlene Hernández under the brand 100% Alexis García in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, continues to build an impressive list of achievements.

In 2024, he was named Spain’s Best Master Artisan Pastry Chef, and he has previously received the titles of Best Pastry Chef in the Canary Islands and the Manuel Iglesias Award at the DIARIO DE AVISOS National Gastronomy Awards.

His latest international recognition further strengthens his reputation as one of Spain’s leading pastry chefs.

Spain’s finest culinary talent recognised

The International Academy of Gastronomy awards also honoured several other leading figures from Spain’s food and wine industry.

The internationally acclaimed Disfrutar restaurant received the Exceptional Restaurant award, while Vicky Sevilla was recognised as Chef of the Future. Other winners included sommelier Israel Ramírez, author Rosa Tovar, and the documentary El Mago del Vino, which tells the story of renowned winemaker Raúl Pérez.
