Candelaria will host the “Educar Entrenando” Torch Event on Saturday 20 June, bringing together young athletes, families, coaches and sports organisations for a day focused on the educational values of sport.
The event will take place from 10:00am at the CEIP Punta Larga Sports Hall and is open to the public.
Organised by the Social Innovation Laboratory of the University of La Laguna (LabINS ULL), the initiative aims to highlight the role of grassroots sport as a tool for personal development, social inclusion and healthy living.
Sport Beyond Competition
The event is designed as a fun and participatory gathering where sport becomes a vehicle for learning and community engagement.
Throughout the day, participants will explore values such as:
🏅 Respect
🏅 Teamwork
🏅 Effort and perseverance
🏅 Inclusion
🏅 Equality
🏅 Friendship and cooperation
The initiative encourages reflection on the positive impact that sport can have on children and young people, both on and off the playing field.
A Community-Focused Event
The Candelaria Town Hall has highlighted the importance of supporting projects that reinforce the educational dimension of sport and promote healthy habits among younger generations.
The event forms part of the wider Educar Entrenando strategy, developed through a collaboration agreement between LabINS ULL and the Sports Department of the Tenerife Cabildo.
By bringing together athletes, families, coaches and local organisations, organisers hope to strengthen community ties while showcasing sport as a powerful tool for learning, personal growth and social cohesion.
