Surf Joins the IX Juegos Máster with Debut Session at Almáciga Beach

The IX Juegos Máster Tenerife are adding something new this year.

Surf officially joins the programme, with its debut session taking place on Sunday 7 June at Almáciga Beach, on the Anaga coast in Santa Cruz.

Not a bad place to start either.

A Beginner-Friendly Surf Day

This isn’t aimed at experienced surfers chasing big waves.

It’s an introduction session designed for adults wanting to learn the basics safely and properly.

Participants will learn:

• Getting comfortable in the sea and waves
• Paddling techniques
• The take off (standing on the board)
• Balance and short rides

Sessions will run in three groups, starting from 10:00, with registration opening on the beach from 09:30, where participants will also collect event T-shirts.

Free to Join

Participation is completely free.

The only requirements:

• Be 30 years old or over
• Fancy spending a day in the sea doing something different

Which sounds fair enough.

Registration Dates

Registration opens:

📅 25 May at 00:01

Closes:

📅 3 June at 23:59

Places are limited and allocated in order of registration.

Worth noting this is the only surf session planned for this year’s Juegos Máster, so leaving it until the last minute might not end brilliantly.

Important Cancellation Rule

If you register but later can’t attend, organisers ask participants to cancel before:

📅 5 June at 12:00

Failure to cancel means you won’t be able to join other Juegos Máster events this season.

A practical move really… stops empty places and gives people on waiting lists a chance.

For many people this will probably be their first surf lesson.

And honestly… learning in Almáciga isn’t the worst introduction to Tenerife life.
