Tenerife Romerías and Baile de Magos in May 2026: Full Calendar and Where the Island Really Comes Alive

May in Tenerife is something else.

The weather settles down, the villages wake up properly and suddenly every weekend has a romería, a Baile de Magos or a parade involving tractors, livestock and enough local wine to keep the island moving until June.

If you’ve just moved here, are visiting, or simply don’t want to miss the good ones this year, here’s the May 2026 romería calendar for Tenerife.

Get the traje ready…

1 May

Romería de San Alejo

📍 El Tanque

One of the first traditional dates of the month and a good way to ease yourself into romería season before things become slightly chaotic.

2 May

Gran Baile de Magos

📍 Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Probably the biggest Baile de Magos on the island.

Thousands of people fill the streets around La Noria and La Concepción with tables, food, wine and traditional dress.

Small warning… they do not mess around with the dress code here.

Baile de Magos (Agua García)

📍 Tacoronte

A smaller northern alternative with plenty of local atmosphere.

10 May

Romería de El Pico (Tejina)

📍 La Laguna

A proper local romería with that traditional Tejina atmosphere.

Expect carts, parrandas and plenty happening around the village.

17 May

This is where things get busy…

Romería de Valle San Lorenzo

📍 Arona

Romería de Guía de Isora

📍 Guía de Isora

Romería de El Chorrillo

📍 El Rosario

Romería de Valle de Guerra

📍 La Laguna

Romería de San Matías

📍 La Laguna

Romería de Ruigómez

📍 El Tanque

If you like traditional Tenerife and don’t mind spending a Sunday moving between villages… this is your day.

23 May

Baile de Magos de Los Realejos

📍 Los Realejos

One of the best nights in the north.

The atmosphere around Calle El Sol and Calle El Medio is brilliant during the May fiestas.

Parking though…

Good luck.

Baile de Magos de La Cuesta

📍 La Laguna

Another popular date that pulls a good crowd every year.

24 May

Romería de Los Brezos (Araya)

📍 Candelaria

A more local feel compared with some of the larger events and a nice option if you prefer smaller village celebrations.

28 May

Romería Chica

📍 Los Realejos

Part of the May celebrations and one that locals never seem to miss.

29 May

The island nearly explodes with events…

Baile de Magos de Punta del Hidalgo

📍 La Laguna

Baile de Magos de Adeje

📍 Adeje

Baile de Magos de Candelaria

📍 Candelaria

Baile de Magos de Los Cristianos

📍 Arona

Romería de La Corujera

📍 Santa Úrsula

Pick one carefully.

Trying all of them in one evening might require teleportation.

30 May – Canary Islands Day 🇮🇨

Baile de Magos de San Miguel de Abona

📍 San Miguel de Abona

Baile de Taifas de Barrio Nuevo

📍 La Laguna

Baile de Taifa de Granadilla

📍 Granadilla de Abona

Canary Islands Day always brings extra celebrations and villages everywhere suddenly become very busy.

31 May

Romería de Los Realejos

📍 Los Realejos

One of the biggest and most anticipated romerías in Tenerife.

Baile de Magos de Los Silos

📍 Los Silos

Romería de Las Mercedes

📍 La Laguna

Paseo Romero

📍 Puerto de la Cruz

And just like that… May finishes.

Exhausted, slightly sunburnt and wondering how you somehow ended up carrying a plastic cup of wine for six hours.

A Few Quick Tips Before You Go

• Wear proper footwear. Cobbles and local wine are not always friends.

• Arrive early. Tegueste, La Laguna and Los Realejos become parking puzzles very quickly.

• Respect the traditional dress. It matters here.

• If someone offers papas, gofio or wine from a cart… just accept it. That’s how it works.

May really is the month when Tenerife feels most Canarian.

And honestly… it’s one of the best times to be here.
