Tenerife to Cover 60% of Shop and Restaurant Renovation Costs in 2026

Good news for small businesses in Tenerife…

Especially anyone thinking about finally renovating that tired-looking shopfront they’ve been ignoring for years.

New Aid Programme Approved

The Cabildo of Tenerife has approved a new subsidy programme for 2026 aimed at helping:

  • Small shops
  • Restaurants
  • Personal service businesses
  • Autónomos and micropymes

Modernise their premises and improve equipment.

How Much Can Businesses Receive?

The scheme will cover:

💰 60% of the investment made
⬆️ Up to €10,000 per premises

The initial budget sits at:

€590,000

Although the Cabildo says this could increase by another €500,000 depending on demand.

What the Grants Can Be Used For

The programme focuses on helping businesses improve:

⚡ Energy efficiency
♿ Accessibility
🏪 Modernisation of premises
🎨 Shop appearance and refurbishment
🛠 Equipment upgrades

Including the removal of architectural barriers.

Focus on Small Businesses

According to Commerce Councillor Krysten Martín, the aim is to help traditional businesses adapt to modern expectations and remain competitive.

Particularly smaller businesses, which continue to form a huge part of Tenerife’s local economy.

More Than Just Cosmetic Changes

The Cabildo says the grants are also designed to encourage:

  • Sustainability
  • Better customer experience
  • More accessible commercial spaces
  • Improved competitiveness

Which, realistically, many older local premises badly need.

Worth Knowing

For a lot of small businesses, covering renovation costs has become increasingly difficult in recent years.

So having 60% of the investment subsidised could make a genuine difference…

Especially for independent shops and family-run restaurants trying to modernise without taking on huge debt.
