Nearly 13,000 Volunteers… The Quiet Effort Keeping Tenerife in Shape

This is the side of Tenerife most people don’t see.

No headlines… no noise… just a lot of people quietly putting in the work.

The Numbers

In 2025 alone:

  • 12,976 volunteers took part
  • 58 projects were carried out
  • 428 actions across the island
  • 216 organisations and companies involved

That’s not small… that’s a proper collective effort.

What They’re Actually Doing

It’s not just awareness campaigns.

There’s real, hands-on work:

  • Reforestation projects
  • Coastal clean-ups
  • Controlling invasive species
  • Protecting natural spaces

And one standout…

The rescue of 2,635 Cory’s shearwaters, with a 96% success rate.

That doesn’t happen by chance.

Businesses Getting Involved

Another shift… more companies stepping in.

Around 27 businesses joined in, with over 1,000 employees taking part in volunteer work.

Not just talk… actual participation.

The Bigger Picture

This isn’t just about ticking environmental boxes.

It’s a sign that more people on the island are starting to take responsibility for it.

Less “someone should fix this”… more “we’ll do something about it”.

Worth Keeping in Mind

Most of this work goes unnoticed…

…but without it, the island wouldn’t look the way it does.
